Ivan Andrijanić was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1975.

Growing up in Zagreb, Andrijanić was inspired by his hometown’s old building facades and courtyards, windows and cellars. These motives overflow into his paintings today. His paintings are filled with lyrical layers, technical application and reflect realistic frames of contempo- rary motion.

In 1993, Andrijanić graduated from the School for Applied Arts in Zagreb where he studied painting.

In 1998 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb where he furthered developed his painting skills under professor Vasilija Josipa Jordana. While enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts, Andrijanić traveled to Paris and Munich to further study the landscapes of Europe and the paintings of the old masters.

After completing his schooling at the Academy, Andrijanić enrolled in Philosophical Faculty in Zagreb to study philosophy and indology (the academic study of the history, languages, and cultures of the Indian subcontinent) where he graduated in 2004.

In 2004 he began his postgraduate doctorial study of literature at Philosphical Faculty where he focused on ancient Indian poetics, their theory of esthetic experience and echo.

Today, Andrijanić continues to form his colorful art expression. He paints “street on street” pieces to reflect the reality of time.

Art critic Nevenka Nekić writes, “The wholeness is just a part, part is already wholeness of chiric’s sensation. Shadow and light of blind houses without tenants, rare people who pass by and don’t allow the touch, spiritual static lines of force of sometimes ugly and unimportant corners, edges, cellar spaces and old walls of his hometown Zagreb, writes this original artistic handwriting with immense neatness imitating mimesis like he is catching, stopping the mo- ment in time, that evading, imaginary concept.”

Andrijanić has participated in several individual and group exhibitions and is a member of the Croatian society of painters.
