Rob Hefferan was born in Manchester, England in 1968. From the begin- ning he was desperate to follow an artistic career. Although he seemed to find discouragement around every corner, his art teacher recognized that his childish drawings of dinosaurs were something rather special. He de- veloped his artistic techniques at Padgate College of Art from 1985 – 1989 and at Salford University from 1989 – 1991. His versatility as a designer and illustrator earned him jobs from high profile advertising campaigns (BMW, British Airways, Sony, and Volkswagen), to illustrating children’s books and developing his own line of greeting cards. Although he was tremendously successful as a designer and illustrator, he wanted to be- come a full time artist, and continued to spend his free time painting.

He first exhibited his paintings at the Spring Art Fair in Birmingham, UK. His pieces sold out within the first 30 minutes of the fair’s opening.

Recently, Rob entered the International Art Magazine’s Figurative Competition and won second place.

Rob’s unique style has matured over the last 10 years and he continues to expand his artistic knowledge and abilities by observing new styles and techniques. His latest figurative pieces are beautifully composed and depict day-to-day life experiences. Each piece uses a blend of intricate detail in the foreground and broader brush strokes in the background. Rob’s painting technique captures a study’s exact detail, yet is completely unlabored allowing his pieces to have a 3-dimen- tional quality from his energetic execution.
